About Us
We are a small family building out our dream homestead at our home in Walden, New York. Situated in the Hudson Valley, we bought our home in early 2025 and decided to take advantage of its unique features to start our own family business. One of those features is a former horse barn a prior owner turned into a world class law enforcement dog training facility complete with heating, electricity, and water. We’ve repurposed the facility into a warm and friendly dog living quarters where we care for your furry family members in a controlled, safe, and loving environment.
Our property boasts three separate completely fenced-in areas where your dog can roam and sniff and play with other dogs in a safe and stimulating enclosure. We have two family dogs so even if your pup is the only guest, he or she will have plenty of company. If your dog is more introverted, just let us know and we’ll provide plenty of rest breaks. We provide custom care for your pup so that you can travel with peace of mind.
Another unique part of the infrastructure of our property is a well-built chicken coop currently home to our lively and wildly entertaining flock of chickens. Coming soon: a farm stand with farm fresh eggs!

What sets us apart?
At Homestead Hounds Pet Sitting, we’ve been dog owners all our lives and so we know what we’re looking for when it comes to choosing the right accommodations for our pups when we travel. We want a safe, secure environment where our pups will get plenty of attention, socialization, mental stimulation, outdoor time, and rest breaks. We do not up-charge for services like extra play time or cuddle time or tuck-ins. There is clear pricing transparency and all the pups will have an equal opportunity to play with others (temperament permitting). All pups are treated equally at Homestead Hounds and you do not have to worry that because you didn’t select all the add-ons, your pup isn’t getting all the attention and play he needs!
We want to know all about your pup! Give us all the information we need to know about your pup so that we can customize your pup’s stay. Our host pup, Emma, for example, loves her socialization and play time, but also needs a lot of rest breaks to recharge. Is that your pup? Just let us know!
We are building an idyllic homestead on our property so that your pup can observe and interact with not only other dogs, but chickens and goats (coming soon!) as well.
We are fully insured and registered with the State of New York for your peace of mind.

Emma is a COVID puppy rescued from West Virginia by Knine Rescue. She was adopted on April 11, 2020 and has been bringing joy to all people and dogs she’s met ever since.
